Painted Desert Community Amenities
Residents of Painted Desert enjoy both the close proximity to all the city of Las Vegas has to offer as well as to extraordinary recreational areas northwest of the city. The Floyd Lamb State Park is a natural park located right in the city. The park is centered around Tule Springs, a group of small lakes in the Mojave Desert. You can visit Tule Springs Ranch to learn about life in the early years of Las Vegas. Take in views of the Sheep and Spring Mountain Ranges while catching a glimpse of the wildlife like jackrabbits, wild geese, foxes, and coyotes that call the 680 acres of this park home.
Home building started in the Painted Desert neighborhood after the completion of the Painted Desert Golf Club in 1987. Designed by Jay Moorish, Painted Desert is known as the original desert golf course in Las Vegas, which adds just a little extra appeal in some ways. The 6,781-yard course winds it way up to the clubhouse, where you can find a practice area that includes a driving range, putting green, and bunker. Golfers also enjoy visiting the pro shop and The Rockwall Bar & Grill with its patio overlooking the golf course. Having served as host for the Nevada Open, Painted Desert Golf Club is the perfect place to test your skill while drinking in the beauty of the surrounding mountains.
Painted Desert residents also enjoy the benefit of having Mount Charleston right in their back yard. At 11,289 feet, Mount Charleston is the highest peak in southern Nevada. About thirty degrees cooler due to the elevation, this area provides a wonderful respite from the summer heat. Enjoy hiking and biking on the 50 miles of trails, take a break at one of the four picnic areas, or stay for a few days at one of Mount Charleston’s eight campgrounds. In the winter, the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard resort on Mount Charleston is the perfect winter playground. Skiing, snowboarding, sledding, and snowshoeing provide fun for the whole family. Families can easily spend a day hiking and rock climbing on the beautiful rock formations in nearby Red Rock Canyon. Owning a home in Painted Desert puts you in just the right place to take advantage of the beauty and vitality of all that this part of the state has to offer.
